Lockers are available in three sizes at the valley and mountain stations. Payment can be made by card (debit/credit card) or in cash.

Locker passes can also be purchased at the ticket office (7 days, 14 days, whole season). There are also changing facilities at the valley station.

Safe storage without lugging. The "Ski Racks" offer the possibility to store 1 pair of skis. "Ski racks are available at the bottom station (1st floor next to the toilets) and at the exit of the top station.

Skis can be stored for CHF 2 for 24 hours. The first 15 minutes are free of charge.

What you should know.

Winter offers

Is it possible to enter Oeschinensee in winter?

If the ice is thick enough and there is enough snow on Oeschinensee , the "Ice Walk" is prepared on the lake. This is open to all pedestrians. Good, warm winter hiking boots are required. During the "Ice Walk", it is important to observe the clearance for walking on the frozen lake and the avalanche bulletin on site.

Is there a toboggan run that leads down into the valley?

No, the former sledding trail down into the valley is permanently closed due to the risk of rockfalls. This is an official closure. The best place for sledding is the Oeschiland beginners' park, near the mountain station.

Is it possible to snowshoe in the Oeschinensee area?

Yes, there is a snowshoe trail leading directly from the valley station to the shore of Lake Oeschinen. The hike takes approx. 1.5 hours. Depending on weather conditions, the snowshoe trail is only suitable for experienced snowshoers. Alternatively, you can use the official winter hiking trails with snowshoes from the mountain station.

Is it possible to ski in the Oeschinensee area?

Yes. After a short ride on the Cable car , you Cable car the mountain station. The ski area at Oeschinensee two T-bar lifts (Birelift, Wittenenlift) with blue and red slopes. How is the piste and rescue service provided?

Can you go winter hiking in the Oeschinensee area?

Yes, you can take a winter hike from the mountain station to the shore of Lake Oeschinen. We recommend taking trail (D) via Läger to the viewpoint and then the direct route (C) from the lake back to the mountain station. When open, the Ice Walk on the frozen lake offers an additional special winter hiking opportunity. Good, warm winter hiking boots or snowshoes are a must.

Can sleds be rented?

No, sleds Oeschinensee be rented at Oeschinensee . Furthermore, there is no sledding trail down to the valley.

Can I rent/buy sports equipment somewhere?

Yes, there are several sports stores in Kandersteg where you can rent or buy sports equipment: Grossen Sport, äussere Dorfstrasse 83 and Bahnhofstrasse 15, 3718 Kandersteg, tel. 033 675 00 17/16. Käthy Sport + Mode, äussere Dorfstrasse 31, 3718 Kandersteg, tel. 033 675 16 09.

Is there a snow park in the Oeschinensee ski area?

Yes, there is a small snow park. The "Oeschipark" offers various fun elements and jibs for beginners. The snow park is located in the immediate vicinity of the Bire lift. Whether you're just starting out or want to refine your tricks, the Oeschipark is the perfect place!

Is it possible to skate on Oeschinensee ?

No, in order Oeschinensee to be open Oeschinensee skating, the lake must be completely frozen over. This happens very rarely. If skating is possible, we will post information on our website. Is there a toboggan run?

No, there is no longer a toboggan run in the Oeschinensee area. The former toboggan run down into the valley has been permanently closed due to the risk of rockfalls.

Is there a beginner's park for children, skiers, or snowboarders?

Yes. A short ride on the Cable car you Cable car the mountain station. Right next to it is the Oeschiland beginners' park, ideal for young and old snow bunnies and families with children. What outdoor guidelines apply to winter or ice swimming?

Can I buy the ski day pass online?

Ski day passes are easy and convenient to purchase at the ticket machines at the valley station or at the ticket office at the information center. Further information and tickets are available directly from our ticket shop.

Is my AlpsPass, MagicPass valid?

No, the AlpsPass or MagicPass are not valid at Oeschinensee . You have the option of purchasing a season ticket for the winter season (CHF 100.- for adults, CHF 50.- for children). This offer is only available at the ticket office at the valley station.

Is my Adelboden-Lenk ski pass valid?

No. The Kandersteg ski region is no longer a partner of IG Skiregion Adelboden-Lenk (IGSAL). It is possible to purchase a season pass for Adelboden-Lenk for Oeschinensee: children CHF 23, adults CHF 46, exclusively at the ticket office at the valley station.

Is the Cable car included in the ski pass?

Yes, the gondola ride from the valley station in Kandersteg "Kandersteg, Talstat. Oeschinen" to the mountain station "Oeschinen (Bergstation)" is included in the ski pass.

Is my Adelboden–Lenk points card valid?

How do I make a reservation for my group?

Group visits to Oeschinensee Sunnbüel are now booked via our group reservation tool. This allows us to prepare your visit properly and ensure a smooth process on site.

Do I need to register?

Yes. Before making your first booking, a short one-time registration is required. After successful registration, you can conveniently submit your group reservation online.

We are traveling by public transport – what do we need to consider?

If you are arriving by train or PostBus, you have two options:

What happens if we arrive without a reservation?

Cancellation or refund of tickets is generally excluded. In exceptional cases, a voucher can be issued for a later visitCable caroeschinensee. A processing fee of CHF 10 per booking may apply. A payout is excluded. Note: A rebooking to another time slot within the current season is possible up to three times free of charge.

Can a ticket with a boarding pass be changed to an earlier date?

Can a ticket also be purchased on site?

We recommend purchasing your ticket in advance from the ticket shop. Only a limited number of remaining tickets are available from the ticket machines on site. Please note: Mountain trips can only be booked on site if there are still places available for the desired time slot. If the time slot is already fully booked, transportation is unfortunately not possible. Further information can be found directly in the ticket shop.

Do dogs travel free of charge on the Cable car?

No, the day ticket costs CHF 8.00. The SBB dog pass is accepted on the Cable car Oeschinensee .

What means of payment can I use?

You can pay at the ticket machines and at the ticket office with all major credit and debit cards as well as with Twint. Cash and REKA checks are also accepted. Payment with REKA checks is only possible at the ticket counter. Further information and tickets can be found directly in our ticket store.

Are savings, tandem, community or Friends day passes valid?

No, the SBB day passes are not valid for the Cable car Oeschinensee. Discounts are available with a valid GA travelcard, Half-Fare travelcard, Swiss Travel Pass or a guest card from Kandersteg, Kandergrund, Frutigen, Adelboden and Reichenbach.

What transport regulations apply to bicycles, SUPs, scooters, children's bikes, etc.?

Bicycles, mountain bikes, children's bikes, scooters, SUPs (stand-up paddleboards), or other sports equipment will not be transported.

Is the Bernese Oberland Pass accepted?

No, the Berner Oberland Pass will no longer be accepted from January 2026, and there will be no discount on the gondola ride.

Fares for public transport

Are the SBB Half-Fare travelcard, GA travelcard or Swiss Travel Pass valid?

Yes, with an SBB Half-Fare Card/GA and the Swiss Travel Pass you benefit from a 50% discount on the gondola ride. Please note that this discount does not apply to ski day tickets. If you are traveling by public transport, we recommend that you book a time slot for the ascent in advance in the ticket store. This will secure a fixed time slot for your ascent and avoid long waiting times. The SBB Saver Day Pass does not include cable car rides or discounts on tickets. Reduced fares are only available for holders of a Half-Fare Card, GA Travelcard or Swiss Travel Pass.

What should I bear in mind when traveling by public transport?

If you are traveling by public transport, we recommend purchasing a time slot reservation (boarding pass) for the ascent in the ticket store. Further information can be found in the SBB app and in the timetable.

Do children travel for free (SBB Junior Card)?

Yes, children under the age of 6 travel free on the Cable car. Also children with an SBB Junior Card or a Swiss Family Card. Please exchange these for a corresponding Cable car at the Infocenter at the valley station - a time slot reservation is not necessary, children with a Junior Card/Swiss Family Card have access to the same time slot as the accompanying person.

Is a reservation with a public transport ticket necessary for the ascent ?

Yes, during the summer season, in addition to your public transport ticket, you must ascent a time slot (known as a boarding pass) for the ascent . This allows you ascent avoid waiting times and secure your ascent, even with the SBB app. Without a reservation, you may experience waiting times and, in exceptional cases, transportation may not be possible. Is the Swiss Family Card valid for the Cable car ?

Yes, with the Swiss Family Card children travel free of charge on the Cable car. Please contact the Infocenter - there we will exchange your card for a corresponding ticket.

Arrival and parking

How do I travel by train (public transport)?

You can reach Kandersteg by train from Spiez and Brig. From Adelboden and Frutigen there is a bus (AFA) to Kandersteg. The walk from the station takes approx. 10-15 minutes. From June to October, a local bus runs from the station to the valley station for every train arrival/departure.

Where can I park? Is it possible to reserve a parking space?

Parking spaces cannot currently be reserved. Parking spaces in Kandersteg are limited at weekends and during the summer. From around 12 noon onwards, there may be no parking spaces available – we recommend arriving early. Parking spaces are available for guests at the valley station from 6 a.m. until the evening. Hikers heading to Oeschinensee should use the hiking parking spaces in the village (lower hiking parking rates). No vehicles are allowed to enter at night. Vehicles are limited to a maximum length of 5 meters and a maximum height of 2 meters. Paid parking spaces and parking spaces for larger vehicles are located in the village and at the Schützenhaus.

How do you get from the mountain station to the shore of Lake Oeschinen?

Oeschinensee reached on foot in around 30 minutes, and the path is easily accessible with a stroller. During the summer season, a paid electric taxi service runs every half hour from the mountain station to the Oeschinensee mountain restaurant Oeschinensee the lake shore and back, or as required when fully booked. Guests with limited mobility have priority in the electric taxi.

Can Oeschinensee be reached by car?

The private road to Oeschinensee is closed to all motorized traffic and bicycles. Oeschinensee cannot be reached by car, e-bike, mountain bike or other vehicles.

Where can campers, motorhomes etc. park?

There are no parking spaces for campers at the Cable car valley station, as the entrance height is limited to a maximum of 2 meters. Further parking spaces are available at various locations in the village. Parking spaces are available at the Nordic Arena and at the Bären (near Sunnbüel). Parking spaces without height restrictions are located at the Schützenhaus or at the town hall.

Are there charging stations for electric cars?

Eight 11kW electric charging stations are available in our "P2" parking lot at the valley station. Entry is also possible when the parking lot is occupied - simply press the button on the entry column. Charging cables can be borrowed from the ticket office.

What are the outdoor guidelines for cycling?

Cycling of any kind is prohibited in the Oeschinensee area. Out of consideration for our guests, nature and for safety reasons, Oeschinensee can only be visited on foot. There is a judicial ban on cycling (mountain biking, e-biking, etc.). In addition, many forest trails lead through ecologically sensitive areas, i.e. rare and shy wild animals use these areas as retreats and quiet zones.

Where can coaches park?

There are no parking spaces for coaches at the valley station of Cable car Kandersteg. These can be found at various locations in the village. Only a short stop for loading and unloading is permitted at the bus stop at the valley station. For group reservations, the group leader will be allocated a coach parking space.
