With your snowshoes in the deep snow, follow the pink marker poles that show you the way.

A snowshoe trail takes you from Kandersteg (start at the valley station) directly to Oeschinensee. The duration is approx. 60-90 minutes.

Can you go winter hiking in the Oeschinensee area?

Yes, from the mountain station at Oeschinensee Kandersteg in the Bernese Oberland, you can take a winter hike to the shore of Lake Oeschinen. We recommend taking Trail (D) via Läger to the viewpoint and then Trail (C) directly from the lake back to the mountain station. When open, the Ice Walk on the frozen lake also offers an additional, unique winter hiking experience. Good, warm winter hiking boots or snowshoes are required.

Is it possible to snowshoe in the Oeschinensee area?

Yes, there is a snowshoe trail that leads directly from the valley station in Kandersteg in the Bernese Oberland to the shore of Oeschinensee. The hike takes about 1.5 hours. Depending on weather conditions, the snowshoe trail is suitable only for experienced snowshoers. Alternatively, you can use the official winter hiking trails with snowshoes starting from the mountain station.

Can sleds be Oeschinensee in the Oeschinensee area?

No, in the Oeschinensee area Oeschinensee Kandersteg in the Bernese Oberland, sleds cannot be rented at either the valley or mountain stations. Furthermore, there is no sledding trail leading down to the valley; sledding is permitted exclusively in the “Oeschiland” beginner’s park.
