Valley descent Remains closed in winter

Due to massive infrastructure damage caused by mudslides in summer 2024 and the resulting safety concerns, the valley descent to Kandersteg will not open in winter 2024/2025. "The uncertain future in connection with the 'Spitze Stei' is like playing the lottery," says Christoph Wandfluh, explaining the difficult decision made by the Board of Directors of Cable car. From both a technical and economic point of view, renovating the valley descent is not justifiable and hardly feasible. In addition, the unpredictable dangers during continuous rain in winter represent an unacceptable risk.
