Valley descent to Kandersteg: closed in winter

Due to significant infrastructure damage caused by debris flows in summer 2024 and the associated safety concerns, the valley descent to Kandersteg will remain closed in the 2024/2025 winter season and until further notice.

Validity of season ticket Adelboden-Lenk, Top4-Skiabo & MagicPass

Since the 2023/2024 winter season, the Kandersteg ski region is no longer part of the validity area of the "local" Adelboden-Lenk season ticket, is no longer a member of the Top4 ski pass network and is no longer included in the MagicPass. However, it is possible to purchase a season pass.

What you should know.

Do children travel free of charge on Cable car?

Yes, children under the age of 6 travel free on the Cable car. The SBB Junior Card is valid, please show it at the ticket office or at the turnstile.

What outdoor guidelines apply to the use of toilets?

The public toilets are located at the mountain and valley stations and at the mountain restaurant on the lake shore. There are more toilets in Oeschinensee(see map). Going to the toilet in nature should be avoided. However, if you do need to use the "natural toilet", please do not leave any paper, tissues or wet wipes behind.

Which outdoor guidelines should be observed when providing first aid?

In an emergency, call the rescue service immediately (telephone number 1414). You should also inform the ranger (079 603 28 78) in summer and the SOS patroller (079 481 01 12) in winter. There is an SOS room in the mountain station. Defibrillators are located at the mountain and valley stations and at the Oeschinensee mountain restaurant, near the lakeshore.

Is my Magicpass subscription valid?

No, the Magicpass is not valid in Kandersteg. You have the option of purchasing a follow-up pass for the 2024/2025 winter season (CHF 80.- for adults, CHF 40.- for children) - exclusively at the ticket office at the valley station.

Can I buy my ski day pass online?

Ski day passes are easy to purchase via our webshop. Load the day pass onto a key card or your SwissPass. Alternatively, day tickets can also be purchased easily and conveniently at the valley station from our ticket machines or at the ticket office.

Is my Adelboden-Lenk ski pass valid?

No. The Kandersteg ski region is no longer a partner of the IG Skiregion Adelboden-Lenk (IGSAL). It is possible to buy a season connection ticket Adelboden-Lenk for the Oeschinensee: children CHF 23.- adults CHF 46.- exclusively at the ticket office at the valley station. Incl. Sunnbühl: CHF 80.-/40.-.

Is my Top4 ski pass valid?

No, the Top4 ski pass is not valid for the Cable car Oeschinensee . You have the option of purchasing a follow-up pass for the 2024/2025 winter season (CHF 80 for adults, CHF 40 for children) - only at the ticket office at the valley station.

Are lockers available at the top or bottom station?

Yes, there are lockers and ski racks at the top and bottom stations. Payment can be made digitally by debit card, Visa/Mastercard, Twint or cash.

Can I rent/buy sports equipment somewhere?

Yes, there are several sports stores in Kandersteg where you can rent or buy sports equipment: Grossen Sport, äussere Dorfstrasse 83 and Bahnhofstrasse 15, 3718 Kandersteg, tel. 033 675 00 17/16. Käthy Sport + Mode, äussere Dorfstrasse 31, 3718 Kandersteg, tel. 033 675 16 09.

How is the piste and rescue service provided?

The daily monitoring of the marked and open pistes and trails ends with the final check at 17:00. Outside of lift operating hours, all pistes and trails are closed and not secured against any dangers such as avalanche blasting, snow groomers, etc. In the event of incidents, the SOS patroller (079 481 01 12) must be contacted.

Is there a picnic area?

Yes, there is a heated picnic room at the mountain station (around the house, on the 1st floor). Opening hours when the cable car is in operation 09:00-16:00. It is not possible to make a reservation.

Is there a snow park in the Oeschinensee ski area?

Yes, there is a small snow park. The "Oeschipark" offers various fun elements and jibs for beginners. The snow park is located at the Bire lift.
