A one-of-a-kind experience at Lake Oeschinen. Fish on the frozen Lake Oeschinen in the UNESCO World Heritage Site. But be careful: Wear warm clothes, temperatures are cold!
Ice thickness & times
Ice fishing is possible from the 1st of January to the middle of March. The average ice thickness is 30 to 50 cm. At 17.00 clock is the last slope control. Enter the Oeschinen Lake
The Oeschinensee is a cantonal waters. Entering the lake is at your own risk at any time. Before entering the ice, an individual assessment of the situation is required. Please note the thickness of the ice and the avalanche bulletin. Avalanche specialists make a recommendation about the avalanche situation.
Distance from hiking trail
Please maintain a distance of at least 50 m from the hiking trail. Water can get to the surface of the ice through the drilled holes, making it more difficult to groom the winter hiking trails on Lake Oeschinen. Thank you!

Fishing supplies such as augers or rods are not for sale or rent at Lake Oeschinen – please bring all necessary equipment with you! You can rent augers and rods in Kandersteg:
