Black Ice on Lake Oeschinen – beyond words!
Arguably one of the most impressive and largest natural ice rinks in Switzerland! A rarity, the ice framed by the backdrop of Lake Oeschinen.
Winter season starts Dec 22, all slopes and tracks will be open. The lake is not frozen yet.
Hiking access to Oeschinensee is closed due to slope preparations. Please consider that in winter, no official walking access from town to the lake. For your own safety use the cable car.
Access from the mountain station to the lake is difficult with an all-terrain stroller; we recommend that you rent a sled at the sporting goods store at the valley station. Please note that the temperatures on the lake are below freezing; bundle up your children accordingly.
Low temperatures without any or only light precipitation are required to form the black ice for skating. There should hardly be any snow on the ice. A one-of-a-kind spectacular that was already possible in 2015.
