Farming

During the summer there are some 100 cows and 300 sheep on the Alps around the Oeschinen Lake. The milk is made into cheese and many of the cheese-wheels are carried in foot to the edge of the lake. Alp summer is from June until mid of September.

The care of our native forest is our mission. The forest to protect from avalanches, give living space to animals and plants and provide as well a magnificent recreation area for locals and tourists. Not every Alp is accessible by motor vehicle. 

As well as the Hotel and restaurant we run a certified (BIO-Bud) farm with 70 to 80 sheep. Products from this farm are used in our kitchens.
